Ever wonder why art history just fades out after the 1970′s? Art History classes usually run out of time by then and leave some of the greatest artists of the 20th and 21st Century missing. What is happening in contemporary art? This course is a who’s who in contemporary art beginning with the artists and art “isms” that influenced them. This is a lecture and discussion class open to anyone that appreciates art and wants to learn more about, or simply understand how contemporary art fits into Art History.

Jeremiah Johnson is a practicing artist and self-proclaimed contemporary art historian. Johnson has a BFA in fine art printmaking from the Tyler School of Art of Temple University and graduated just one class short of an art history minor. This was because there was a course missing from the curriculum, Art History 1980 to the Present. Johnson went on to get his Masters in Fine Arts from Syracuse University and took it upon himself to obsessively collect all the years that were missing from art history, These are the years as they’re being written, what lasts beyond, only time will tell.
